Captain Fortune

Real Name: Tyler Van Warren

Background: Alec Van Warren was a wealthy scholar and world traveller in the days before World War II. While over the remote Himalayas, his private plane was shot down by sky pirates, with his wife and son Tyler aboard. Alec and his wife were critically injured. Tyler fought off the pirates alone and managed to get his parents to the shelter of a hidden cave. The cave was actually the gateway to an underground temple that housed an ancient order of monks. The monks were impressed by the boy's courage and detemination, and tried to heal his parents, but to no avail. They took the orphaned boy under their tutelage, and for over a decade, trained him in their mystical martial arts, which included the ability to foretell the future.

One night, before his training was complete, Tyler had a terrible vision of the world's future: there was to be a vast battle of good versus evil. He saw himself alongside others in that battle. Isolated from the outside, he had no idea that a new World War was brewing. Fleeing the the monks, he made his way back to America, where he found he was heir to a vast fortune. He swore to use it to ensure that the forces of good would triumph in the upcoming battle. To protect his identity, he took the name Captain Fortune, and began a career as a crimefighter and spy-smasher.

Later, he recruited the heroes he had seen in his vision for a group called the Victory Squadron.

Powers: Captain Fortune has the ability to foretell the future, although since his training was not complete, he couldn't control the power.
