In fact, his stateroom is an immaculately kept library of arcane knowledge where he spends his time researching and experimenting. A cautious man, Almira isn't the type to accidentally create a big explosion or summon a major demon. If those things were to happen, it would never be an accident. A quiet man that keeps to himself a good deal, he can most always be found deep in the bowels of the Reckoning with a bucket of pitch caulking seams and humming happily to himself. Ayrn seems to enjoy the solitude and it gets the rest of the men out of the work, making him quite a popular man. Never of much use in a fight, he generally stands by to make emergency repairs if the ship is damaged. Unknown to all, Ayrn is also an inveterate practical joker.

Basille

Reith

A simple blind beggar--or is he? Although blind no one knows what goes on in the streets better then Basille the bind beggar. Basille is rumored to be the head of the mysterious Beggars’ Guild. Beggars may look like easy pickings to thieves but most know better than to roll one who belongs to the guild. Those thieves tend to disappear one day and never come back. Basille appears as a broken down man with filthy gray hair dressed in rags, with rheumy, clouded orbs for eyes. He can usually be found at his regular corner sitting against the wall with his begging bowl before him.

Rutger Hauer

Bastien

Reith

Bastien is a dashing, handsome young man with an eye for the ladies. He’s also a talented naval commander and expert sailor. He collects Selandri artifacts, because of the veneer of culture they grant him, as well as seeing them as a powerful weapon to use against his foes.

Stewart Townsend

Benning

Reith

Crewman of the Reckoning. A Cleric of Ardis, Benning is an oddity aboard a pirate vessel. A former slave trader, he gave up the life after a particularly brutal slaughter on a raid. He travelled for many months seeking a new purpose and found it in a temple devoted to the White Lady. After taking his vows, he chose to journey the lands performing Her works. Preferring to be a healer, Benning is enerally reluctant to join in any fighting, unless it involves slavers.

Brion

Reith

A travelling troubador sworn to stop the Vorghol menace.

Brixton

Reith

Physically a short, stocky, bull of a man, slow in his movements and speech. This gives people the impression that he can't move quickly and isn't very bright. The impression is drastically incorrect. Known as a man who never makes mistakes, he is patient and deliberate in all things, methodically examining every situation for possible alternatives, consequences, and responses. If he thought it worth his time, he would be a Grand Master at eight-square. He dislikes flamboyant or risky behavior and discourages it strongly in his subordinates. He holds a grudge and has a memory like an Oliphaunt. He is utterly dangerous with almost any blade, but favors a stilleto-like dagger which is equally good for throwing or in-fighting. His thick fingers and ham-sized hands belie an incredible manual dexterity and great skill in picking locks and pockets alike. Completely untrustworthy in any dealing, working with Brixton can make you fabulously wealthy or quickly dead. While he has a multitude of associates, he avoids playing favorites. In fact, it seems as if he rarely rewards success or punishes failure, placing all blame or congratulations on himself. Brixton leads a guild called the Blades.

Tim Matheson

Camiel

Reith

Camille

Reith

The hard life of the Yandar Isles tends to produce many orphans. Before they are old enough to ship out with one of the pirate ships or work in one of the taverns or brothels many come to live in a small orphanage run by a woman named Camille. It is said Camille was dropped off on the island one day by one of the local pirates returning from sea. After setting up house, she offered to take in a turned-out prostitute and her child. As word spread, more children were dropped off some even showing up at her door themselves. It is rumored due to appearance and fine ways, that she must have been a woman of some importance in Sarrik, possibly the wife of a Lord. Camille has a unique talent of shaming the local pirate Captains and madams into donating items to her orphanage. (Camille was indeed the wife of a very powerful person who was planning on making her disappear. Talon was able to make a deal with a captured Yandar pirate that would secure his release and her transport to safety.) Though dressed as commonly as any fisherman’s, wife Camille still retains the stately beauty and strength of character of any great lady. In fact, Camille is a former wife of King Lucard known as Queen Amoret. She is also the mother of Princess Mirielle.

Too valuable to simply kill, she was consigned to a slave galley. She still bears the scars of the 200 lashes she took before the slavers sold her off. Less vocal than most Urag, she is a fearsome fighter and almost always the first into battle. There is not a man on board who would willingly face her in a fight.

Danmar Lyndag

Reith

A former pirate Captain, Lyndag moved ashore several years ago and claimed the village of Port Terval as his own. An upstart compared to Port Arjuri, the town is only moderately fortified, has only one pier, limited repair facilities and few places to resupply. Add in the fact that Lyndag is an utter bastard and it’s a wonder that the town survives at all. It probably wouldn’t if it weren’t for the fact that there are no port taxes as there are in Arjuri. The self-appointed Baron has proven to be a bit of a military savant, holding his town against all attackers with a much smaller force of defenders.

Frank Langella

Darelling

Reith

A tall, thin Mazirene, Darelling is the King’s Tax Collector in Port Arjuri. Since the port is the only real repair and resupply point in the Isles, ship Captains pay what they must to continue doing business. Deeshon

Tobon

Crewman of the Reckoning. As head lookout, Deeshon spends most of his time aloft. He is more like a monkey than most monkeys, flying along the rigging at breakneck speed and leaping from mast to yard to boom without a glance. His sharp eyes aren't his only valuable contribution; Deeshon hurls a grappling hook with extraordinary distance and accuracy. At home in the crows nest as few are, he keeps an albatross and several terns as pets. His other hobbies include woodcarving, fancy knotwork, and dropping small items on unwary crew members from the mastheads.

Seth Green

Dernit

Reith

Crewman of the Reckoning. Taken aboard as a boy, Dernit could never be referred to as the sharpest knife in the drawer. In fact, most would doubt his ability to find the drawer if he had a torch, a map, and one hand closed in said drawer. He has two things on his side that keep him aboard. First is his devotion to Vendig, who gave him his name with constant cries of “Dern it! I told you to put in more salt!” as the boy helped him cook. Second is his ferocity in a fight, he’s a true savant in the area of hand to hand combat. There are still a few men aboard who remember the shock on the day he first picked up a cutlass in defense of the Reckoning. As a group of marines pushed onto the ship, Dernit snatched a weapon from a fallen combatant and leapt into the fray, killing almost a dozen of them in a frenzied whirlwind of bloodshed that few could believe. Dernit’s duties also include taking care of the ships’ livestock and acting as butcher.

Crewman of the Reckoning and Ferlan's twin brother. Simply waiting on the dock one day when the ship pulled into port, looking for work as 'boo-con-yays'. Not the sharpest tools in the shed, the boys are sturdily built and steadfast in any fight. Dark hair and eyes imply a southern heritage, but the boys can't really tell where they came from. Good-natured with everyone, they occasionally break into week-long bouts of brotherly discord culminating in a fight which threatens the structural integrity of the ship. The fights generally end when Candra tosses one or both of them into the water. The only visible way to tell the two apart is a faint crescent-shaped scar on the left side of Ferlans jaw where he was kicked by a mule.

Reith

The King cannot have enough spies and some do not fall under the direction of the King’s Eye. Even with the eye patch that covers a nasty reminder of the dangers of intrigue, the Baroness Fionna is as icily beautiful as she is deadly. In Talon’s days of service to the King, the Baroness was his on-again off-again lover. Fionna is in the spy game for the excitement and the danger. Service to Sarrik is second on her list. Short and fat, it seems unlikely he could even get into a saddle, much less be the brilliant horseman that he is. Deadly with lance, spear, bow, and sword, Garvin is a whirlwind of violence with a jovial countenance. He never talks about his past and there are only whispers about what made him what he is. The last man to press Garvin for details still limps and can only eat foods fit for an infant.

Though the rest of his war-band doesn’t truly trust Khom-bei yet, Grenna’s word is as good as law and no harm will come to anyone who has his blessing. He now runs ‘The Crouching Lion’, one of the many inns that vie for space along the Mazirin waterfront. A taciturn man with sharp hearing, he makes an excellent barkeep and an even better source of information, rumor, and gossip. Though he could never return to his former profession, Hannaford is more than a match for most of the sailors and ruffians that frequent his establishment. He is a well known face along the Westwall and is well-respected by Angharan knights, Oathkeepers of Ress, and Urag war-bands. A taciturn man, it is not uncommon for Hout to arrive and depart in the same hour having spoken only a few well-chosen words in whatever ear he thinks most beneficial. Koster

Reith

Crewman of the Reckoning. A rogue from the streets of Mazirin, he was formerly a member of Brixton's Blades and every negative stereotype of a rogue rolled into one. When he's in the room, people keep their hands on their valuables. When the manure hits the fan, he's nowhere to be seen. When the spoils are being divided, he's first in line (assuming he hasn't picked the lock and pocketed the spoils already). He probably would have been tossed into the briny blue long ago except for his incredible skill in dealing with locks and solitary guards, both in absolute silence. He never talks about his time in the Blades', but spits and makes the sign of the evil eye whenever Brtixton's name is mentioned.

Migalen shuttles visiting merchants to the business district, minor nobles to court, and anyone else to whatever destination they can pay to request. Reith

Crewman of the Reckoning. Taken from a slave ship, Oojif is of indeterminate origin. He understands little and speaks none. Of course, the fact that he hasn’t got a tongue might explain the latter. Though he has little in the way of skill with a blade, he seems to have been born on the waves and knows his way around every one of the daily chores of a ship. His primary duty in a fight is to shuttle bolts to the men manning the scorpions, although he seems to face any chore with a toothy grin.

Opal, The

The woman now called The Opal was once Baroness Cyrille, accused of plotting against King Lucard, and whose lands along the coast were confiscated by the Crown. Hailing from a long line of nautical heroes, she fled to the sea to reclaim her heritage.  She wears a partial domino mask that hides scars along her face, and has a long mane of bright white hair.  She took her pirate alias from a daring raid on a royal treasure ship, where she plundered but a single item: a rare fire opal destined for the King’s crown. He can usually be found along the Mazirin docks or patronizing the Rose and Thistle

An old hand when Vendig came aboard, Revas has forgotten more about Aerryt's seas than most men will ever know. Toothless, bald, and feeble would be a kind way of describing him. It would also list his three best traits. Revas has a foul temper and an even fouler mouth. Many a crewman has been on the receiving end of a well-aimed crack from Revas' cane and a blast of profanity that would melt lead.

A veteran soldier from the Riverlands, brought in to deal with an intractable gang war, he quickly gained a reputation as an honorable man, a rarity in Mazirin. The people of the city soon grew to love him as much as they came to despise Yannick. He’s an expert swordsman and archer, and has the dark hair and lanky build of a southerner. His law enforcement operations are run with nearly military precision. His deputies are all hand-picked and trained by him. Time will tell if he can last in this town.

However, he is beginning to grow absent-minded in his age, and his effectiveness is beginning to diminish. King Lucard served under him as a Prince. Thumgath and Khilur were rivals before he was destroyed in the Battle of the Morden Vale.

Tyree

Reith

Deceased

Former Captain of the Reckoning. A son of Mazirin,  he grew up hearing thrilling tales of the daring sailors of Sarrik, and took to the sea soon after he could walk, rising to the rank of merchant Captain. His voyages took him all over Aerryt, as far as distant Molossa.  During the Second Crusade thirty years ago, Tyree’s ship went privateer, and with royal backing, preyed on Tol Nedran shipping. Leading the skilled crew of his vessel, the Reckoning, he became one of the most well-known privateers of the Crimson Coast, protecting shipping and defending his homeland. But with the rise of King Lucard, Tyree’s fortunes changed. Refusing to turn over plunder taken in a battle to the crown, he was declared a pirate, and a price set on his head.  He has dodged bluecoats ever since. Tyree is by nature extremely generous, but he has a vicious temper that often gives him cause for regret. He far prefers the simple life at sea to the complexity of life on land. (He abandoned his wife when their life together grew too domesticated for his liking.) When he was young, he was idealistic, but years and experiences have made him cynical and jaded. He treats his crew with paternal affection and they return his esteem in equal measure.  Tyree is stocky, almost pudgy and barrel-chested, and has the thick forearms and scarred hands of a veteran sailor. Killed by the Dragha who sank the Swiftsure.

Once a handsome dark-haired man favored by the ladies of Lucard’s court, Valentin bears the scars of his capture by vicious Urag raiders during a journey in Ress. He barely escaped that adventure with his life.

Jeremy Irons

Valkris

Vorghol

Valkris was Turned as a child, over two centuries ago, and has remained in that form since, but his keen intellect allowed him to rise to Malivare's attentions. A jovial old Vulkah warrior, ex-mercenary (of course), he joined the crew of the Reckoning so long ago that most of the crew just assume he came with the ship when it was built. One-handed and one-eyed, he serves as the ships cook. Has an odd assortment of cooking implements that he has fitted to his stump of a hand over the years, but the attachment he favors most is an evil-looking spiked mace. Still plenty tough for his age, his salt pork cake is to be avoided with all diligence.

Welge is an extortionist, a drunk, a bully, and an all-around bad seed.
